Aujeszky's disease (AD), also known as pseudorabies, is a highly contagious, economically significant disease of pigs caused by a Herpesvirus. Infection results in central nervous system signs and high mortality rates in young animals, and respiratory illness in older pigs. Eradication programs are underway or have been successful in many countries. The ID ScreenŽ Aujeszky gB Competion ELISA, which detects anti-gB antibodies in pig sera, may be used to determine an animal's exposure to the virus by natural infection or by vaccination. |
