MAEDI-VISNA |
| ID Screen® VISNA Indirect Screening ELISA kit |
Maedi-visna is an economically important viral disease of sheep that occasionally affects goats. Although most infections are subclinical, a minority of animals develops progressive, untreatable disease syndromes including dyspnea (maedi) or neurologic signs (visna) which are eventually fatal.
Serology may be used to diagnose the disease, and ID VET proposes the ID ScreenŽ Visna Indirect ELISA for the detection of anti-Visna Maedi antibodies in ovine sera.
The antigen used in the kit is a bouquet of peptides from the virus GAG, TM and envelope proteins. The use of these peptides results in improved test discrimination and higher sensitivity and specificity for the detection of Maedi-Visna antibodies in ovine sera.
