|
Q Fever is a zoonotic disease caused by Coxiella burnetii. Sheep, cattle and goats shed the organism in their urine, faeces, milk and especially in their birth products. Infection is usually asymptomatic, although there may be inflammation of the placenta, or an abortion.
The ID ScreenŽ Q Fever Indirect Multi-species ELISA uses the Phase I and II antigen of a Coxiella burnetti strain, isolated in France from an aborted bovine placenta. The kit can be used with bovine, ovine or caprine sera.
