Interferon gamma

ID Screen® Ruminant Interferon gamma

This sandwich ELISA is designed to detect native bovine, caprine and ovine interferon gamma (IFN-γ) in plasma or culture supernatant.
Results are expressed with respect to a standardized, freeze-dried positive reference control included in the kit. This relative expression of the measured quantity of IFN-γ guarantees the standardization of results between runs and kit batches.
Interferon gamma (IFN-γ) is produced predominantly by natural killer (NK) and natural killer T (NKT) cells as part of the innate immune response, and by CD4 and CD8 cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) effector cells once antigen-specific immunity develops.
When lymphocytes in whole blood come into contact with a specific antigen, the resulting production of IFN-γ indicates previous exposure to that antigen.
This kit may also be used for quantitative determination of IFN-γ. Please refer to the kit instructions for use for more information.
