Akabane is a viral disease caused by an arbovirus that may cause serious economic losses in ruminants. Inapparent infections in adults can lead months later to abortions, stillbirths, premature births, and severe congenital defects in newborns.
There is no treatment, but serology is often used to diagnose the disease.
IDvet has developed a competitive ELISA, ID ScreenŽ Akabane Competition for the detection of anti-Akabane virus antibodies in ruminant sera. |
