Newcastle Disease is one of the most common respiratory diseases of poultry. A notifiable disease, it affects bird species of all ages worldwide. The disease is caused by the Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV), a single-stranded, nonsegmented, enveloped, RNA virus belonging to paramyoviruses.
Serology is used for disease control and vaccination monitoring, and the ID Screen® Newcastle Disease Competition ELISA detects anti-NDV antibodies in bird sera and egg yolk. The test is applicable to multiple species, shows high sensitivity and specificity, and is easy to use. |
