If vaccination against the highly pathogenic Influenza A strain H5N1 is performed using a homologous hemagglutinin to the highly pathogenic field strain (H5), but a heterologous neuraminidase subtype, serologic surveillance can be performed by testing for antibodies against the homologous N subtype (N1) as evidence of natural infection. In response to such vaccination strategies, ID VET has developed the ELISA kit ID Screen® Influenza N1 Competition, a rapid ELISA test designed to specifically detect the N1 Antibodies of the Influenza A virus in birds. |
