Avian Infectious Bronchitis virus (IBV) is a coronavirus which infects poultry, causing the associated disease, Infectious Bronchitis (IB). It is a highly infectious avian pathogen which affects the respiratory tract, gut, kidney and reproductive systems of chickens. The economic impact of Infectious bronchitis is mainly due to poor growth performance and mortality due to the respiratory disease in broilers; egg production losses in layers and breeders; and losses caused by renal damage in broilers, layers and breeders. Diagnosis requires laboratory testing, and ELISA may be used for monitoring serum antibody responses. The ID Screen® Infectious Bronchitis Competition ELISA is cross reactive among serotypes, and therefore allows for general serological monitoring of vaccinal responses and field challenges. |
